The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF)

CFF, the official philanthropy of the Sorority since 1958, is the recipient of funds raised by chapters to support research to find a cure for CF and to improve the quality of life for the 30,000 children and young adults with disease. In 1992 scientists described the gene that, when mutated, causes CF; however, a cure for CF has not yet been found. In appreciation of the Sorority's fundraising efforts, the CFF named a research fellowship in honor of Delta Phi Epsilon.

Over one million dollars has been raised to date for the CFF through Delta Phi Epsilon and the Beta Phi Chapter has contributed to this by holding a dinner each year to raise funds and awareness!

Tate's Totes are bags filled with various items that make an extended hospital stay more comfortable for children with cystic fibrosis (CF) and their parents. Tate's Totes are given to local Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) Care Centers to distribute to patients.

Tate's Story
On August 5, 2004, Tate Alan Goodge was born.

Within 24 hours he had emergency surgery for meconium ileus, and was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis within 48 hours. Barely 5 lbs. Tate spent his first three weeks in the NICU, and in his short live he has tolerated several long stays at Rainbow Babies & Children's CF Care Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

Tate and his parents have found the weeks in the hospital monotonous, tedious, and expensive.  The little luxuries of home are missed, and the basic comforts, such as forgotten toothpaste, can be costly away from home. Family routines are upended and it is a constant struggle to entertain Tate in a medical setting.

Tate's presence has undoubtedly brouth joy and love to his family. But Tate's family is much larger than any one could've imagined; he was born into a family of Delta Phi Epsilon women - women who since 1959 have raised over one million dollars and remained committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.

Tate's Aunt Donna is a member of Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority, and took an oath as the International President just weeks before Tate's birth.  Tate has breathed new energy and dedication into Delta Phi Epsilon's commitment to this cause.  The result of this revitalization is Tate's Totes...a little love from the women of Delta Phi Epsilon for children who must endure long hospital stays.

Organ Donor Awareness
Organ Donor Awareness is a philanthropy that Beta Phi chapter continues to support, as it was the main philanthropy of thelocal sorority who eventually founded the Delta Phi Epsilon Beta Phi chapter.  Every year we have tables with information and sometimes a speaker, who teaches us and others in the campus community that organ donation saves lives.  We also use the time spent on ODA to encourage others to save lives by talking with their family members about their organ and tissue donation wishes.
